Our Mission

The Brockway Area Historical Society, founded in 1953, is a not-for-profit educational institution whose mission is to promote an understanding of the history of the Brockway, PA area by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting that history and its relationship to the region, and nation beyond, to audiences of all ages and interests.

The Brockway Area Historical Society established, operates and maintains the Taylor Memorial Museum. The Society displays artifacts depicting the history of the Brockway area.  Taylor Memorial Museum houses a vast display of glass from the local glass manufacturing industry plus many interesting artifacts from the lumbering, railroading, mining, and area farming communities. Various other businesses are highlighted in the display area along with individuals who contributed to the history of the area.

The Brockway Area Historical Society maintains a separate genealogical research area.  In this research area there are histories of the surrounding communities and counties and digitized and microfilm versions of the Brockway Record newspaper from 1887 to 1990.  Members have access to ancestry.com, family resource folders, and a vast library of genealogy resources.  The Society provides outreach programs for the public as well as maintains a website at www.brockwayhistory.org and on Facebook.
