Adults can’t help but be affected by the historical events of their lives. Major events such as wars, recessions, terrorism and pandemics can have a profound impact on anyone who is fortunate enough to live through them. But what is the weight of the impact for those who grow up and reside in a small town? Is small town America buffered by its demographics and psycho graphics? And if so, to what extent? Everyone has been affected by the social changes of the last quarter century – civil rights, women’s equality, the sexual revolution, LGBTQ liberation, rising divorce rates, vast advancements in healthcare and age longevity. What’s both interesting and empowering is that although we’ve all been affected by history, each of us also has the ability to be a history maker. More than ever before, people have both opportunities and choices before them that can call them to take action. Every action, no matter how big or how small, is a means for connecting to community. Together, we are connecting and moving community forward in a way that hopefully benefits generations to come. It’s important to learn from our past as we look toward the future with the pioneering spirit of our ancestors and the wisdom of our own experiences. In this volume, we cover the community events, people, places and things that occurred over the timeline of 1987-2022, with a few added years to back fill origin stories not included in Volume 1.
